We didn’t set out to build a dungeon. Honestly, the idea of a “sex room” sounded a bit full-on at first — like something from a movie. But what we did want was a space that was just ours. Somewhere we could go to escape, connect, play, and have a bit of fun — without distractions, without interruptions, and definitely without kids knocking on the door.

Our bedroom has always had a bit of a playful side. Over the years we’ve turned it into a sexy, indulgent space: purple feature wall, mirror ceiling with soft LEDs, a custom St. Andrew’s Cross, plush bedding — everything designed to set the mood. And we still use it. It’s perfect for those spontaneous moments when you don’t want to leave the house.

But as our toy collection grew (and so did our kids), we started to feel like we needed a space that was more private. Somewhere we didn’t have to constantly tidy away our gear or keep things quiet. A space where we could fully relax into the moment — and not worry about who was coming upstairs.

So we decided to build one ourselves: a dedicated sex room in our garden log cabin.

This blog is a full walkthrough of how we did it — from the first DIY screws to the finishing touches like fuchsia LEDs, toy shelves, and our custom-built cage bed. It’s real, it’s raw, and it’s not just about kink — it’s about creating an intimate space that works for you.

Whether you want a room like ours or just a sexy upgrade to your own bedroom, we’ll walk you through every step.

Let’s just say: it’s not your average home improvement project — but it’s definitely one of our favourites.

Our Setup — Inside the Cabin

When we say we built a sex room, we mean it — literally. Nearly everything in our log cabin was either built by hand or picked with purpose. It’s not some fantasy setup we found online; it’s a real, working space we created ourselves, designed for comfort, connection, and serious fun.

The centrepiece is the bed — a custom-built, four-poster king-size beast with a cage underneath, stocks at the foot, and chains mounted to the top and sides for when things get a little more intense. I had the original vision, but Sophie — our in-house designer — brought it to life with proper plans and scale drawings. Once the design was nailed, I built it completely from scratch. It’s solid, sleek, and gives off serious ‘dark hotel suite’ energy once the LEDs are glowing.

Just beside the bed is our St. Andrew’s Cross, also handmade, finished in bold pink and black velvet. It’s padded, heavy-duty, and very much functional. Add in wrist and ankle cuffs, and it’s one of our favourite pieces when the mood hits right.

We’ve also added a tantra sex sofa, which is way comfier than it looks (and seriously helpful for those creative positions). A proper massage table sits ready for slower, sensual nights, and we’ve paired an obedience bench with a sex machine at the end of the bed — which, trust us, adds a whole new level to the experience.

Lighting is a big part of what makes the room feel so immersive. Instead of sticking LED strips around the ceiling like most people do, I actually routed custom channels into timber trim, allowing the rope lighting to sit flush and glow cleanly throughout the room. It’s subtle but powerful — and that kind of attention to detail is what turns the whole thing from DIY into something truly finished.

One wall has a mounted TV — perfect for setting the mood with music videos, ambient visuals, or the occasional cheeky film. Below it is an electric fireplace-style incense burner — the kind that looks like a glowing log fire and fills the room with a warm, spicy scent. It’s more for vibe than heat, but it definitely works.

Then there’s our display shelf — originally bought on eBay as a gaming unit, but as soon as we saw the built-in LEDs, glass shelving, and lower metal hanging bar, we knew it would be perfect for something else entirely. It now displays a curated lineup of kink gear — including butt plugs, spike rollers, anal hooks, cuffs, floggers, and more. Not everything gets used every night, but it’s all part of the atmosphere. That said, the floggers absolutely earn their place.

This isn’t some cold dungeon setup. It’s a room that feels sexy, playful, and designed for us. A space that invites you to relax, connect, tease, explore, and just enjoy each other in full — without holding back.

And the best part? We made it ourselves. Every beam. Every bolt. Every routed light strip. Built with intention — and a whole lot of excitement.

Our Next Chapter: Building for Others

Once the cabin was finished, people started asking questions — not just about what toys we used, but about the furniture itself. “Where did you get that bed?” “Can you make one of those Crosses?” “Is that a custom build?” And the truth is: most of what you see in our space, we built ourselves — but not all of it.

The obedience bench and tantra sofa we purchased, simply because they were exactly what we wanted: well-built, comfortable, and ready to go. But the big stuff — the custom cage bed, the St. Andrew’s Cross, the stocks, the LED detailing — that’s all us. Designed, drawn up, and built from scratch.

We’ve even created a bespoke St. Andrew’s Cross for Caress Parties — a well-known private swingers house party. They wanted something strong, stylish, and play-ready. It was a challenge, but the feedback was incredible — and it planted the seed for what might come next.

Now we’re exploring the idea of offering custom sex furniture for other couples, clubs, or even discreet private spaces. Think beds, benches, crosses, stocks — or whatever someone dreams up. Real, hand-built gear made by people who genuinely understand how it’s used.

But we know this isn’t just a quick “add to cart” kind of product. There’s a lot involved: delivery, installation, UK-wide logistics, and the need for privacy and discretion along the way. We’re also looking into DIY kits or modular options, so people without tools or space can still build something special.

It’s not something we’re launching tomorrow — but it’s definitely in the making.

So while the cabin is our personal haven, it might just be the beginning of something much bigger.

Designing Your Own Sex Room — What You Need to Think About

If you’re thinking about building your own sex room, the first and most important thing is this: know your space.

Our cabin might look big in photos, but inside it’s actually 3.7m x 2.4m. That’s not loads of room once you start adding big furniture like a king-size bed, St. Andrew’s Cross, tantra sofa, and an obedience bench. We’re not going to lie — it’s tight. We’ve made it work because we planned it down to the last inch. But it’s something you have to think about early on.

We usually start with a quick sketch to plan the space out — I’m good at visualising layouts, and with Sophie’s 20 years in design, we can map everything to scale before lifting a single tool. That alone saved us a load of headaches.

We also had proper discussions about what we wanted from the room. For us, we didn’t just want a bench and a swing — we wanted something we could actually stay the night in, like our own little luxury hotel. That’s why we went for a full king-size bed, even though it takes up space. It’s not just a sex room — it’s an experience.

But not everyone needs that. If your style is more down-and-dirty, you might prefer to skip the bed entirely and focus on the fun stuff — like a sex swing, spanking bench, pony horse, or restraint system. Just make sure everything fits and flows properly. There’s nothing worse than having a gorgeous space and constantly banging your knee on a bench you don’t use.

We should also say: we didn’t even plan on getting the obedience bench at first. But once we saw it, we couldn’t resist. Same with our first sex machine — it was a cheap one (about £130), but honestly? It was awkward, needed a stand, and wasn’t that easy to use. If it’s not secure and properly adjustable, they can go from fun to painful real fast. So we binned it and waited until we found something better.

Bottom line? Start by asking yourselves:

  • 💜 What do we want this space to feel like?
  • 💜 What do we really use or fantasise about?
  • 💜 Can we move around easily once it’s in place?

Measure everything. Sketch it out. Talk about it together. And if you're not the type to build things from scratch — that’s completely fine. Just having a clear vision of your space and your style will help you avoid wasting money on gear that doesn’t suit you.

And if you’re just starting out and want a few ideas or suggestions, we’re always happy to point people in the right direction. We’ve made our fair share of mistakes — so if we can help someone avoid one, why not?

Furniture That Changes the Game

You can have all the toys in the world, but if the furniture’s wrong — it kills the mood fast. Getting your setup right makes everything easier, more comfortable, and a lot more exciting. The best part? You don’t need to spend a fortune to do it right. It’s about choosing what works for you.

Let’s start with the bed. If you’ve got the space and want to create a hotel-style escape like we did, investing in a proper bed is a game-changer. Ours is a full king-size with a cage underneath and built-in stocks and chains. It’s not subtle, but it’s solid — and it instantly sets the tone. That said, not everyone needs a full bed. You could just as easily go with a bondage bench, obedience stool, or even just a rug and a good imagination if you’re tight on space.

One of the most versatile pieces we’ve ever added is the tantra sofa. It looks good, doesn’t take up loads of room, and the shape makes it ridiculously comfortable for a range of positions — especially if you’ve got back problems or flexibility isn’t your strong point. And here’s the clever bit: it’s also known as a yoga sofa, which makes it ideal if you’re after something that blends into your room without screaming “sex furniture.” You can get a proper one like we did, or look for a lower-budget option like a curved inflatable wedge or sex position pillows.

One of the first pieces we built for ourselves was the St. Andrew’s Cross — and to this day, it’s one of our favourite ways to start a session. There’s something about standing restraint that feels more intimate and controlled, especially when you're easing into things. It’s great for eye contact, slow teasing, and that push-pull tension that builds arousal beautifully.

The massage table works in a similar way. It’s not just about oils and rubdowns — it’s a space for touch, focus, and slow build-up. It’s great for warming up physically and mentally, especially if one of you needs time to relax before diving in. Ours was a bargain too — just £82 from Amazon, and honestly one of the best-value pieces we’ve bought. It folds away, it’s sturdy enough, and it proves you don’t need a huge budget to add something game-changing to your setup.

We also added an obedience bench, which we hadn’t even planned to get. But when we saw it, we knew it belonged in the room. It’s low, padded, and gives great access while keeping the submissive in a comfortable position. You don’t need one, but once you’ve tried it — trust us, it’s hard to go back.

And then there are sex swings. We’ve had them mounted in both the bedroom and living room — and they’re brilliant. The hooks are still up, and we still use them when the mood hits. They’re great for weightless positions, deeper angles, and just adding a playful bit of excitement. That said, we chose not to install one in the log cabin. The movement and weight transfer from a proper session would put too much strain on the structure. We know this from experience — we’ve got a gym setup in our second cabin, and when we installed a boxing bag, it nearly pulled the roof off. So unless you’ve got strong beams or a freestanding swing frame, swings are best suited to sturdier rooms.

💜 Tip: If you’re installing swings, reinforce your ceiling joists properly. We’ll cover more on that in the next section — but don’t cut corners.

When it comes to furniture, our advice is simple:

  • 💜 Choose one anchor piece that excites you — whether that’s a swing, a sofa, or a spanking bench
  • 💜 Build the rest around it slowly
  • 💜 Don’t clutter the room with things you’ll never use
  • 💜 Make sure it’s comfortable and safe — nothing ruins the mood like dodgy straps or a bench that wobbles

A good space isn’t just functional — it’s inviting. You want to walk in and want to use it. That’s what the right furniture does — it doesn’t just hold your body, it sets the whole mood.

Storage, Safety & Aftercare

🔧 Safety First — Structure Always Matters

You can have the best gear in the world, but if it’s not safely installed, you’re playing with risk — not pleasure.

Take swings, for example. I weigh around 105kg, Sophie around 55kg, and once you're both moving and enjoying yourselves, the force generated is far more than just body weight. Most swing kits might say they hold 350–500kg, but the real issue is what you’re fixing it to — and how.

Upstairs, we knew the 80mm joists weren’t going to cut it. Coach bolts alone would weaken them. So we reinforced with 4x2 timber and used stainless threaded rod to bolt right through everything — tying multiple joists together and distributing the weight across a wide span. The result? We can sit, swing, bounce — whatever we want — and it stays solid as a rock.

Downstairs was similar. I fabricated a custom metal bracket, welded with studs and bolted through joists with steel plates. We couldn’t risk anything collapsing mid-session — safety has to come first.

Same goes for the bed. Ours is made from 3x2 timber, solid and reinforced. If you’re building or buying furniture, don’t just think about how it looks — think about how it holds up when you’re both really going for it.

🧼 Clean Space, Clear Mind

We didn’t realise how important cleaning and toy hygiene would become until we started using more gear. Once you're mixing lubes, oils, restraints, and toys — it adds up fast.

So now we make sure everything is wiped down, dried properly, and stored in a way that keeps it ready to go for next time.

  • 💜 Antibacterial toy cleaner is a must
  • 💜 Microfibre cloths and soft wipes
  • 💜 Breathable bags for silicone toys

It’s not just about hygiene — it helps your gear last longer and feel better to use every time.

📦 Storage That Works (and Looks Good)

Early on, we overlooked storage — and ended up with toys in drawers, boxes, and bags scattered everywhere. So we made a change.

  • 💜 A display shelf (with LED lighting) to showcase key pieces like floggers, anal hooks, and cuffs
  • 💜 Proper bedside tables to keep essentials within reach
  • 💜 A custom wooden toy box in progress — built to match the cabin, padded and upholstered in fuchsia velvet to double as a seat

We also added some visual touches — like silhouette-style lamps of naked women on either side of the bed. They give the room a warm glow and a sexy edge — enough to remind you what the space is for, without turning it into a showroom.

💙 Aftercare Is Everything

For us, it’s not just about the gear. After a session, we take time to wind down together.

That might mean cuddling up in bed, grabbing a drink, watching something chill, or just laughing about whatever madness just happened. There’s no script — but checking in with each other matters.

Some sessions are soft and intimate, others are intense and physical — either way, we always end by reconnecting, mentally and emotionally.

Bringing It All Together

Building a sex room isn’t about showing off. It’s about creating a space that’s just for the two of you — to escape, to explore, to reconnect.

Our cabin didn’t happen overnight. It started with a few bits in the bedroom, then one piece of furniture, then another… until suddenly we had a space that felt like something between a luxury hotel and our own private playground. And we built it with our own hands.

What we’ve learned is this: you don’t need a massive space, and you definitely don’t need to spend thousands to create something special. With some planning, a bit of imagination, and a focus on what you actually want, you can build something that works on almost any budget. Whether it’s a spare room, a corner of your bedroom, or a full-on cabin like ours — it’s all possible.

Start simple. A swing. A bench. A lockable toy box. Mood lighting and music. Think about how you want to feel when you walk in. Think about how you want each other to feel. And then build from there.

For us, this space has become more than just somewhere to have sex. It’s where we go to laugh, let go, play, push limits, or just lay back and enjoy each other. It’s made our connection stronger. It’s made our sex life deeper. And honestly, it’s made us closer — not because of what’s in the room, but because we created it together.

And that’s the best part.

So whether you’re building a dungeon, a love den, or just a more exciting version of your own bedroom — we hope our journey gives you some ideas, some inspiration, and the confidence to make it your own.

Go wild. Stay safe. Have fun.
